Emily Wathen is a filmmaker, photographer, and visual journalist with extensive production and media consulting experience. Emily specializes in crafting precise and compelling images and utilizing digital tools to tell unique and effective stories. Her clients and past employers include Johns Hopkins, USAID, The National Democratic Institute, Just Luck Productions, PROJECT: ICE (documentary), the Center for American Progress, and EarthShare.
Emily completed her MFA in photography and electronic media at the Maryland Institute College of Art and her BFA in film art at Syracuse University. Emily also completed a film studies program at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Emily is the 2015 recipient of the Carolyn’s First Decade Fund Award for Filmmakers.
Emily currently works as a cinematographer, photographer and producer in Washington, DC.
